WVADA Awards
Below you can find a list of all available WVADA awards.
WVADA Athletic Director of the Year Award
- Must be a current member of the WVADA in good standing.
- Must have been an Athletic Director for at least 5 years.
- The nominee will have made a positive impact on students, his school, and the community.
- There will be one Athletic Director from a high school and one from a middle school selected each year.
- Nomination must be made from a current WVADA member by using the nomination form.
- Self-nominations will be accepted.
- The selection committee will make the final selection from the submitted applications.
- The selection committee will be selected by the WVADA Executive Director.
Current Year: 2025 (12/15/25 - 2/28/26, 2026 opens on 12/16/26)
WVADA Distinguished Service Award
- The WVADA established the Distinguished Service Award to recognize individuals outside the field of education who have made significant contributions to West Virginia Interscholastic athletics in their high school or middle school and/or athletics in their communities.
- There will be 5 Distinguished Service Awards presented each year. One award from each WVADA Region.
- Nominations must be made by a current WVADA member on the nomination form.
- The Selection Committee will be selected by the WVADA Executive Director.
- Special Awards: The WVADA Board of Directors may make special DSA Awards as they deem appropriate.

WVADA Hall of Fame
Basic Criteria for the WVADA Hall of Fame
- Minimum of 10 Years of Experience
- Active on the State Level with the WVADA and WVSSAC
- Attendance at WVADA State Conferences
- LTC Classes Taken and NIAAA Certifications Held
- Active on the Local Level including School, County, Conference, and Regions
- Leadership and Innovation in Performing All Activities of an Athletic Director
- Involvement at the National Level (including conference attendance, conference speaker, etc.)
- Awards (including the WVADA AD of the Year and State Award of Merit)
- Submit Nomination Form to the WVADA by November 1
- Submit 2 Letters of Recommendation (one from the person submitting the application and the other from another appropriate person)
- Submit No More Than 6 Pages of Support Material (including resumes, newspaper clippings, certificates, etc.).
- Submit a 5” X 7” Portrait Style Photo of the Nominee
